Bare Acquaintances: Nudism on the Venice Lido
Slideshow and performance by Filo Brault-Archambeault

Through photography, sound composition, and audio recordings, resident Filo Brault-Archambeault will present a live cinema performance with the results of ongoing research into nudist and cruising cultures on the Lido di Venezia, the narrow island that serves as Venice’s beach.

Interested in those unofficial claims over territory that stem from people’s desire for freedom from societal norms around intimacy, as well as in the coexistence of one’s unapologetic freedom with that of the other inhabitants, Filo brings us to reconsider the physicality and texture of the intimate relationships that exist between us, as we share territories.

Filo Brault-Archambeault is a trans feminist artist based in Tiothia:ke/Montréal whose practice takes a politicized gaze on gender, sex and intimacy. Combining sound art and image-making, her work combines archival research and ethnographic methods, resulting in an expanded approach to documentary-making.
