Unmasking Space
Unmasking Space is a student-led initiative within the Department of Architecture at ETH Zurich, dedicated to critically examining and challenging dominant knowledge systems and pedagogical approaches in contemporary architectural education.
Throughout September and October 2025, Ca'Buccari will host a comprehensive programme featuring workshops, talks, an exhibition, and the launch of Unmasking Space's inaugural publication.
Assembly / Critical Pedagogies, 19–21 September 2025
Unmasking Space will organise a symposium on critical pedagogies, bringing together students, activists, researchers, and collectives from Venice, Zurich, and beyond. This three-day gathering will explore alternative learning methodologies designed to cultivate solidarity and resistance within student movements across disciplines and institutions.
The symposium will coincide with the launch of the collective's first publication—a handbook examining the intersection of student activism and architectural education, offering both theoretical frameworks and practical strategies for educational transformation.
Further details regarding the complete schedule, featured speakers, and exhibition programme will be announced soon.
Unmasking Space is supported by the Chair of Affective Architectures and the D-ARCH Enabling Grant
