We will conclude this year's public program with a performance by resident Francesco Cagnin, a collector of words with a specific interest in the poetic qualities of the Venetian dialect, and in language as it is spoken, remembered and forgotten, mispronounced and reinvented.

The time at Ca'Buccari led to encounters with words, memories and stories. Venetian expressions were shaped into a filastrocca, a short piece of popular poetry characterised by simple language, a lively rhythm, and frequent rhymes or assonances. The event presents the results of this process: a self-published collection of Filastrocche in Venetian dialect written by Francesco, alongside a singing performance by Margherita D’Adamo with Igor Sklyarov on glass harp, inspired by Canto della Buranella, the short lullaby composed by Nino Rota for Federico Fellini’s Casanova. An artist born in Mirano, on the mainland of Venice, and based in Zurich, Switzerland, Francesco Cagnin studied at IUAV (Venice), SOMA (Mexico City), and graduated at ECAL (Lausanne) in 2016. His work has been exhibited internationally, including at Autokomanda Belgrade, Kunsthalle Zürich, Centre d’Art Contemporain Geneva, and the 16th Quadriennale di Roma.
